LEMON GYM HYROX RIGA will bring together more than 5500 participants from 76 countries this year
Already this weekend, on May 30 and 31, one of the largest fitness events in the Baltics — LEMON GYM HYROX RIGA — will take place at the International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala. This year, the competition will bring together more than 5500 participants from 76 countries, demonstrating HYROX’s rapid growth both in Latvia and internationally. Athletes from not only Europe, but also America and Australia, are expected to compete in Riga.
HYROX RIGA will take place in Latvia for the second time, and the growth of the event over the past year has been remarkable. Last year, Riga became the first HYROX host city in the Baltics, bringing together more than 3000 athletes, while this year the number of participants will exceed 5500. This clearly demonstrates that interest in functional fitness competitions continues to grow rapidly and that Riga has become an important stop on the HYROX competition map.
This year, the event has also gained new energy and scale, as LEMON GYM has become the main partner, with its name now included in the official event title. LEMON GYM HYROX RIGA represents not only a sporting challenge, but also a large-scale fitness celebration that will bring together athletes, supporters, teams, friends, and active lifestyle enthusiasts in one place.
HYROX is one of the fastest-growing fitness competition formats in the world, combining running and functional strength exercises in one standardized structure. Regardless of whether a participant competes in Riga, London, or New York, the competition tasks remain the same: a total of 8 km of running and 8 functional workout stations. It is this combination that makes HYROX a challenge where not only strength matters, but also endurance, strategy, and the ability to manage energy wisely throughout the race.
This year, Latvia will have the largest representation in the competition, but participants will also arrive from the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Germany, and many other countries. The international athlete lineup will create a particularly dynamic atmosphere and further strengthen Riga’s position as one of the most significant HYROX events in the region.
Nearly 2000 participants will compete in the individual Singles categories this year. More than half of them will compete in the men’s divisions, while around 700 athletes will compete in the women’s divisions.
Particularly high interest this year can be seen in the team formats. In the Doubles category, 3300 participants will compete, forming 1650 teams. Approximately 500 of them will be women’s teams, 550 mixed teams, and the remaining teams will be men’s teams. Competing in pairs has become one of the most popular ways to experience HYROX in recent years, as the workload is shared while the finish-line emotions are multiplied.
The Doubles format is not only a physical challenge. It is also a test of trust, cooperation, and communication, where the result depends on the ability to feel your partner’s pace, adapt during the race, and take initiative at the right moment.
Meanwhile, 212 participants forming 53 teams will compete in the Relay category for teams of four. Mixed teams will be the most represented in this format, with a total of 26 teams, followed by 15 women’s teams and 12 men’s teams. Relay is especially suitable for those who want to experience the HYROX atmosphere for the first time together with friends, colleagues, or gym members, as the distance and functional workout stations are divided among four team members.
The LEMON GYM HYROX RIGA weekend will begin already on Friday, May 29, at 6:30 PM with the official HYROX Shake Out Run — a 5 km run. Participants and sports enthusiasts are invited to join in order to move, warm up, and experience the HYROX atmosphere before the main event. The run will start at the International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala and continue to the Uzvaras Park café “Ezītis miglā,” where participants will enjoy drinks, challenges, and a festive atmosphere.
The Shake Out Run will serve as a symbolic warm-up before the upcoming competition — filled with movement, togetherness, and the special HYROX energy that unites both experienced athletes and those discovering the format for the first time.
On the same day, May 29, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, pre-registration will also be available at the International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala for participants whose start time is scheduled for Saturday, May 30.
During the competition, visitors will not only be able to follow the athletes’ performances, but also enjoy various partner activities, purchase HYROX apparel, and experience the unique race atmosphere in person. The International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala café will be open on site, while outside, Meaet Daddy, Coffee Shops, and Augs will take care of participants’ and visitors’ energy, well-being, and delicious meals.
After the first competition day, on the evening of May 30, participants and supporters are invited to continue the celebration at the official afterparty at Digital Art House.
If you are not yet ready to step onto the стартa line yourself this year, do not miss the opportunity to experience this international fitness phenomenon as a spectator. The HYROX atmosphere is unique — it combines the determination of athletes, the energy of supporters, and the feeling that the entire arena breathes in one rhythm. Come support the participants, get inspired by their strength, and perhaps next year become part of LEMON GYM HYROX RIGA yourself.
